Our goal is to present you with an enduring memory of your visit to
Bermuda. All you have to do is ask!! We can help with all of your
preparations. Below are some of the more frequently asked questions,
but please contact us if you have other questions that are not
addressed here.
Do I need a passport to visit Bermuda?
Yes. As of January 1st, 2007 valid passports will be the only recognized travel document for U.S. citizens to enter Bermuda and return to the United States.
Do I need to exchange money?
No. The Bermuda dollar is pegged to the U.S. dollar and American money is accepted everywhere.
Do I need adaptors and converters for my hair dryer?
Not needed. The current and voltage is the same as the United States.
Can I rent a car?
No. There are no car rentals on the island. Motor scooters may be rented and are a wonderful way to see the island. Public transportation by bus and ferry is excellent and visitors may purchase multi-day transportation passes. Taxis are also readily available and Bermuda taxi drivers are world renowned for their friendliness and welcoming attitude towards visitors.
Can I drink the water?
Yes. Bermuda depends almost entirely upon rain for its water supply, which is caught on white roofs and water catches and stored in individual underground tanks. However, some of the larger hotels do operate desalination plants. The rainwater used for drinking, cooking, washing, etc. is fresh and pure. There are no factories to create air pollution and as the island is so small, the prevailing winds carry any dust and impurities out to sea.
Can I use my cell phone?
Most mobile phones will work on the island but just to make sure, ask your carrier ahead of time. Mobile phones may also be rented from stores in Hamilton and St. George.
Are there ATM machines?
Yes. ATMs are found all over Bermuda in stores, supermarkets, the airport, and two of the islands banks. Both the Bank of Bermuda and the Bank of Butterfield are affiliated with the CIRRUS and PLUS networks.
